Metis Introduces HyperHack to Advance Web3 AI Innovation
Metis, one of the leading Ethereum Layer 2 solutions for decentralized infrastructure, announces HyperHack, a global three-month-long hackathon that supports the development of real-time, AI-native applications for its Hyperion network set to launch between May and August 2025. HyperHack empowers worldwide developers, founders, and visionaries to create, experiment and grow on the scalable, flexible Layer 2 solution that is Hyperion.
HyperHack consists of three progressive phases:
- Phase 1: Applications & Ideathon (May 15 – June 2)
- Phase 2: Building (June 2 – August 7)
- Phase 3: Judging (August 7 – 16)
Over the course of the hackathon, participants will compete for not only $200,000 in prizes and genuine mentorship opportunities with Metis engineers and product specialists but also the chance to accelerate their projects toward an early mainnet launch. In addition to cash value, hackathon entrants will gain valuable support and visibility within the Metis ecosystem and benefit from exclusive development software and other technical resources.
The hackathon kicks off with Phase 1 (Ideathon), which is currently ongoing until June 2, where users can pitch their project and form teams while gaining initial technical support. This step focuses on ideas and teams to promote scaling and requires assurance that the proposed project can be built given Hyperion’s extensive capabilities. As such, developers should use their domain research skills to craft viable ideas that incorporate both AI and Web3 into the metaverse while considering factors such as community building and gamification.
Participants will have access to mentorship from core Hyperion engineers as well as peer-to-peer input through the Hyperion Forum, and exclusive first access to Hyperion’s AI-driven testnet. Additional contributors will be compensated for AMA participation, gain behind-the-scenes project access, and receive limited edition Early-Bird NFTs, which grant eligibility for upcoming rounds of the hackathon. A Starter Kit is supplied to ensure teams are familiar with the ecosystem and can appropriately pitch their submission.
Key dates during the Ideathon phase are the official launch and testnet on the 15th, submission for projects on the 30th, and announcement of which teams will move forward on June 2. Early-Bird NFTs will be distributed to qualifiers on June 9. Those selected to move forward will enter an official building stage where Metis team and community will support these challengers in developing and testing their applications.
HyperHack welcomes independent and collaborative developers worldwide. To submit, an applicant must fill out a submission form (at https://f.mtr.cool/sqwaoczwtb), provide a detailed project proposal and create a community testing and feedback plan. The Hyperion team and the extensive community will evaluate all submissions. Approved projects will be posted in the Hyperion Forum to acknowledge prior to execution.
